Minecraft (best Android apps for kids)
Despite the variance in ages (5-11), all three of my kids are crazy for Minecraft, one of the most popular games on every kind of portable device. In the Google Play store the demo version has an average 4-1/2 star rating with 141k ratings.
In the app you can just be creative and manipulate a world one block at a time with unlimited supplies. Or you can play survival and try to live in said world with zombies, giant spiders and other troubles...and you start with nothing.
The full version is $6.99, but even at that price it is the No. 1 paid app in the iPad/iPhone app store and has been for quite some time.
Minecraft is about placing blocks to build things and going on adventures!
Pocket Edition includes randomly generated worlds, multiplayer over a local Wi-Fi network, and Survival and Creative modes. You can craft and create with your friends anywhere in the world so long as you have hands spare and battery to burn.
Our most recent update added the iconic Creepers. They’re big, green, mean and explody. But it’s just one of many. Since Minecraft — Pocket Edition first appeared, we’re continuing to add loads of new features, including...
- Food! Now you can cook and go hungry
- Swords! Bows! TNT!
- Lots more!
But enough sales talk! Download it already! And have fun!
