Featured App - Kids Pattern Recognition (best educational Android apps for kids)

If you have kids who loves aliens and monsters, then I am sure they will love this app. Full of weird and wonderful creatures from outer space, Kids Pattern Recognition is an early math app designed to teach children ABAB and ABCABC pattern recognition. As your child travels from planet to planet s/he rescues trapped creatures along the way, before eventually trapping the fierce monster on the final planet in the galaxy. With three galaxies consisting of a total of 43 planets, there is a lot of pattern practice to be had in this app!

Go flying on a rocket through outer space with this cute little guy who saves his friends trapped on other planets. Each planet is locked and requires three correct pattern completions to unlock. The aim is to "solve three patterns with no more than four mistakes,"*  but there is no penalty for making four mistakes. The mistake counter simply resets and the player is implored to try again. The patterns begin with simple ABAB patterns, using two different creatures, with a choice of two creatures to fill the gap in the pattern. The further the rocket travels, the more complicated the patterns become, such as an ABCABC pattern, using the same creature but different sizes, with a choice of seven creatures to fill the gap.

Children playing this app will be paying close attention to size, color, shape and orientation of the creatures in the pattern. After two galaxies of patterns with creatures, the final galaxy introduces patterns with numbers. Because there is so much repetition and reinforcement of pattern making, this app is perfect for very young children or older children working at a lower level. Kids Pattern Recognition could easily be worked into the school day and used over a number of weeks to consolidate students' learning of patterns. With no ads, no in-app purchases and no external links, this app is a perfect download for school use.
