JAZZ: Trump's Journey - a musical journey through New Orleans (best free Android kids apps)

What a great way to expose children to music from another era! Jazz: Trump's Journey is a platforming game like none other. The main aim of the game is for Trump to form his band and perform. To achieve this goal, he needs to learn the trumpet and then gather band members. Instead of coins, the main character collects quavers (musical notes) and photographs, and band members are awarded after certain level achievements. There are lots of checkpoints and no "baddies" or dangerous obstacles in the free version, making it very suitable for young children. Introduce your child to jazz and download Jazz: Trump's Journey today!

Fantastic illustrations and super cool music make this a must-have app. Jazz: Trump's Journey will give your child an appreciation of jazz with ambience and information in the various levels.  Trump begins his journey by telling his Granny that he wants to be a jazz musician. Granny laughs, almost mockingly, and challenges him to go ahead and chase his dream. Each level requires some problem solving to make it through and collect all the quavers, but since there are no time limits or lives to be lost, children can take as long as they like. There are 13 levels altogether that Trump must complete in order to fulfil his dream, the first two being available for free.

I do love games and believe they have a firm place in our children's education, particularly ones such as Jazz: Trump's Journey. Games can engage students in music history, for example, exposing them to otherwise untouched areas of learning. Platforming games foster problem solving skills and this particular one always begins on the left and ends on the right, following the reading direction of English. There is just enough text in the app to provide extra tidbits of information without being text-heavy. This really is a fantastically crafted app, and I would encourage you to download it just to view the innovative way the credits are displayed. Well, why don't you? You have nothing to lose!
