Fully Free App Friday for May 2, 2014 (best free Android kids apps)

Did you know that May is Better Hearing and Speech Month? Today I have included a brand new app called Hearing Aide, which was designed specifically for the hearing impaired to help them identify sounds around them. We also have stories about fitting in, fun and educational apps for preschoolers, an open learning app which is fantastic for homeschoolers, an augmented reality dinosaur app and two apps from the Fred Rogers Center! All fully free and devoid of ads.

Sparky Shark - Children's Book

The story starts off when Sparky notices a sign on the beach that says “No Sharks Allowed.” Sparky tells his best pal Dax (a penguin) that he cannot go to the beach anymore, which really bothers him, and what about that Sand Sculpting Competition? The story continues on into an adventure as Sparky tries various silly ways to disguise his outer physical appearance so that he’ll fit in better, but it is not until a “Eureka” moment that Sparky the Shark finally gets it.

The Allen Adventure

The Allen Adventure app was developed by all Australian education authorities, working together to create safe and supportive school environments free from bullying, harassment and violence. Hearing Aide is designed to simplify the lives of the hearing-impaired by alerting them about the key everyday sounds around them. The app recognises these sounds in both indoor and outdoor environment and alerts the users through push notifications coupled with vibratory alerts in just few seconds. Hearing Aide comes preloaded with alerts for key sounds like sirens, alarms, rings, bells and beeps. It also gives users the option to create their own alerts. They can record the sounds that they want the app to identify and alert them about.

Dinosaur Discovery
