For Mother's Day, we've put together a list of free non-kid apps, just for you. Some are fun, some are practical, all are free. So, take a breather during this Mother's Day and put your feet up. Then do a little shoe shopping.
WebMD - Because moms get sick too.
Check out symptoms. Research conditions. Have a handy reference for drugs and their side effects. WebMD offers a convenient tool to help you make informed health decisions.
Your one stop shop for all things cute. I've found dozens of cute, frilly, fancy fashions for my princess using this app. I've got to take advantage while she will still let me.
This app gives you access to more than 1600 TedTalk videos. There are talks by tech giants and business leaders. From political figures and medical pioneers. You'll find talks that are educational and inspirational. Definitely worth a look.
Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker by MyFitnessPal
With over 3 million different foods in the database, you can easily track your caloric intake to help you lose (or just maintain) weight. Input is easy, but I'm always shocked at how many little extra calories I pick up here and there. Keeping track helps you police yourself.
I just picked one "real news" app to include. I use the CNN app, but I also use ABC News, Fox News, BBC, and even HuffPost. But you gotta have at least one window to the world on your devices, just so you don't turn into a zombie playing PvsZ2.
OK. I'm gonna share a secret with y'all. Occasionally, I like to read a little celebrity gossip. Nothing too out there like the Enquirer or anything, just a little bit of who-wore-what and who's having a baby. Apps like TMZ let me keep up without having to buy some celebrity rag at the Walmart checkout.
Grocery IQ from Coupons.com Inc
Helps you organize your shopping trips to take advantage of sales and coupons. Helps you find and use online coupons to help save money. And if you are like me, you can use all the help you can get when tackling the grocery store.
I've got one word for you...SHOES. We all love them. But I hate to shop for them in stores. *shudder* This Zappos app makes shopping super easy. Plus they have free returns, so you don't get stuck with those lime green leopard skin pumps that seemed like such a good idea.
Build your own Bieber-free radio station. We all get numb to listening to whatever the kids are listening to in the car, but Pandora lets you put together a custom station with just what you want to hear. For me? That would pretty much be 70's and 80's rock. What do you listen to?
Because no device of mine is complete without at least one word game. This is classic Boggle that you can play on your own or link up with friends and play. It says you can customize your own rules... I wonder if it would let me set up my granny's "skip a row" rule to make words.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!
Kelli already got a hand-painted birdhouse and homemade card from her eight-year-old for Mother's Day. She really doesn't need a single other thing.
